Royal Mail trying to fill 12 vacancies at Inverness office

Royal Mail is trying to fill 12 vacancies at its Inverness delivery office.

The company said it was using agency workers to provide additional short-term support while these permanent roles were filled.

It said some interviews had taken place and a recruitment day was held on Tuesday.

Royal Mail said it worked to deliver all items within their expected time frames, but added there may be occasions when an individual route could not be completed on a particular day.

The company added that any outstanding mail was delivered as quickly as possible.

A significant proportion of the mail handled by the office is what is known as three-day and five-day economy mail, which includes bank and medical correspondence.

Royal Mail said this could sometimes mean customers receiving several items together, as different items may arrive at the office at different times but their delivery time falls on the same day.

A spokesperson said: "We know how important it is that customers receive their mail when expected.

"We are actively recruiting at Inverness delivery office and bringing in additional resource to support the team.

"Mail continues to be delivered across Inverness and our focus is on providing customers with a reliable and consistent service."
