Teen suffers life-threatening injuries in A1 crash

A teenage driver suffered life-threatening head injuries when her car collided with a lorry on the A1.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident happened shortly before 14:20 BST on Monday, at the junction for the B6474, between Wentbridge and Darrington.

Officers said the blue VW Polo the woman was driving was travelling northbound and joining the motorway when the vehicle collided with a Scania HGV car transporter. The woman was subsequently taken to hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has footage is asked to contact police.
