Road sign corrected after Britain spelt incorrectly

Misspelt city centre sign covered with corrective patch

A council has had to rectify an error on a road sign after the word 'Britain' was incorrectly spelt.

Bristol City Council workers applied a patch to the brown road sign near Temple Meads train station that directed motorists towards the ss Great Britain.

The sign initially read 'ss Great Britian' before the mistake was fixed with a patch featuring the letters in the correct order.

It is not clear if Bristol City Council are responsible for the spelling error and have been approached for comment.

The ss Great Britain is a 19th century steam ocean liner turned museum and is one of Bristol's leading tourist attractions.
