Teenager appears in court on terrorism charge

A teenager has appeared in court accused of planning to shoot strangers, hijack a car and run over people.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly hated British people, the Old Bailey was told on Friday.

The prosecution said the defendant, from Nottingham, had written that after taking a police officer's gun and "killing a few people", he would attempt to "hijack someone's car" and "run over a few people".

Appearing via video link, the teenager heard he faces a single charge of preparing a terrorism act on or before 11 September this year. He is due to next appear at court on 29 January.
