The Charity Commission said there were concerns over the management of Cumbria Community Homes

A housing organisation working with vulnerable adults is under investigation by the Charity Commission, the regulator has announced.

The commission said concerns have been raised over the management and administration of Cumbria Community Homes, which provides help to homeless people and those in danger of having no home.

A spokesperson for the watchdog said it had engaged with the charity since December 2024 and was now launching a statutory inquiry after it found there was no functioning trustee board and financial information was filed late.

Cumbria Community Homes declined to comment.

The Charity Commission said it had restricted the charity's transactions and no property can be disposed of without the regulator's consent.

The inquiry will into whether the charity had a sufficient number of trustees who were able to manage it, how money had been spent and any conflict of interests of people connected to it.

According toits website, Cumbria Community Homes provides accommodation in Barrow, Ulverston, Askam and Kendal to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, people with mental health problems and those recovering from substance abuse or escaping domestic violence.
