Families pack city centre for dinosaur day

Dinosaurs have been roaming around Hull city centre as part of a family fun day.

Dino Day, organised by Hull BID, included free puppet-style displays of a tyrannosaurus rex, a dilophosaurus and a baby dinosaur.

The event included face-painting, stalls and jurassic-themed activities.

Sophie, one of the rangers who looks after Richie the raptor, said: "You get to bring back a bit of jurassic wonder to modern day Hull in a way that you don't really see anywhere else."

Among those lined up to catch a glimpse of the dinosaurs were Alistair and his son Samuel, who said his favourite dinosaur was a t-rex.

Across the enclosure, grandmother Cheryl, 60, described the event as "amazing".

"Its just what our city needs," she said.

"Its an excuse to come into the town centre as well which we absolutely need," she said.
