Firefighters have responded to a blaze in central Brighton.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to reports of a residential building fire in York Place just before 19:00 BST.

It said six fire engines were on the scene and crews were using breathing apparatus and one main jet to tackle the flames.

People were urged to avoid the area, which is near St Peter's Church.
