Three taken to hospital as car crashes into house

One person was left unconscious by the crash

A car crashed into a house in the early hours of the morning, leaving one person unconscious.

Police have cordoned off part of Chester Road in Sunderland, near the junction with Kayll Road.

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said one unconscious person was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with chest and pelvic injuries.

"Two other patients refused assessment from our crews and were taken to hospital by the police," a spokesperson said.

They added three ambulances and three specialist crews went to the crash at about 05:00 BST.

Northumbria Police has been approached for comment.
