Road closed after cyclist hurt in crash

A man has been injured in a serious collision involving a cyclist and a van near to York railway station.

The crash happened on Station Road, close to The Milner Hotel, at about 08:30 BST, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance, the force said.

Station Road remains closed in both directions as a result, with a number of bus services diverted, according to York Pullman Bus Company.

The driver of a grey VW Crafter panel van, a man aged in his 60s from Leeds, has been assisting officers with the investigation, a police spokesperson said.

They said the road would be closed while inquiries continued and appealed for anyone with information to contact police.
