Police evacuate homes due to suspicious object

Roads were closed and people evacuated from their homes after a suspicious object was found at a house.

It was discovered on Thursday afternoon at a property in Fishponds Road in the Little Billing area of Northampton, Northants Police said.

Road closures were put in place in Fishponds Road between Gibbs Acre Court and Manorfield Road, including Foskitt Court South and Gallfield Court, and people were asked to avoid the area.

Northamptonshire Police said the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was due to assess the situation and confirmed people had been able to return to their homes at about 01:00 BST. The force is yet to provide more detail about what was found.
