James Morrison and The Fratellis cancel Kelpies Live shows

Singer-songwriter James Morrison and Scottish rock band The Fratellis have cancelled their Kelpies Live shows this weekend after a dispute with the event promoters.

The Glasgow trio said earlier this week that their show at Helix Park, Falkirk on Friday would not take place.

The band said the event promoters "have been unable to fulfill their commitments to the band to perform."

James Morrison's show on Sunday has also been cancelled according to promoters XFire's website.

The Kelpies Live website page for the concert shows a "page not found" message and the line-up was updated with Morrison and The Fratellis absent.

The organisers have made no official comment but they posted on Thursday: "For the avoidance of doubt, Beluga Lagoon is going ahead as planned this Saturday."

The promoters' website page for the event confirmed Morrison's appearance had been cancelled and said ticket holders would be contacted to "discuss arrangements."

The Scottish Sun reported that an Instagram story on Morrison's official account said the show was cancelled "due to the promoter being unable to fulfil their commitments for James to perform."

The post reportedly added: "James is very disappointed as was very much looking forward to the show but this situation is out of his control."

A statement on the Fratellis' Facebook page said: "Unfortunately the promoters have been unable to fulfill their commitments to the band to perform and they have had to therefore take the decision not to appear at the event."

The band's rescheduled shows to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album Costello Music will take place next year.

The trio were forced to cancel the original shows on the tour earlier this year due to illness.

Kelpies Live and XFire have been approached for comment.
