Three people have been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a fire in a block of flats.

Firefighters said they were called at 15:30 BST to Willow Place, in the centre of Corby, to a blaze on the second floor of a three-storey building that had homes and retail units.

The fire was extinguished after about two hours and smoke was cleared from affected areas, a Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

Part of the road was closed earlier, but has since reopened.

The service thanked residents and businesses for their "patience and understanding" while it dealt with the incident and confirmed it had left the scene.
