Police swoop on Angus property with battering ram in major operation

A major police operation was launched in Kingennie

A major police operation at a property in Angus has forced the closure of a road for several hours.

The incident has closed Drumsturdy Road in Kingennie from the Kellas Road junction to the Ethiebeaton/Forbes junction.

Police Scotland said officers had attended a property in connection with an ongoing inquiry.

A police officer with a battering ram was seen near the property earlier. At about 18:30 the BBC saw a man being led from the address by police, however it is not clear whether an arrest has taken place. Police have been approached for further comment.

The village is about two miles north of Monifieth.

Eleven police vehicles, two fire appliances and two ambulances were at the scene at the height of the incident.

Diversions were put in place and members of the public were asked to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the force said officers remained on scene as inquiries continue and are being supported by other emergency responders as a precaution.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was supporting emergency service partners at an incident on Drumsturdy Road.

It said two appliances were sent to the area after the alarm was raised at 11:47.
