Two dogs attack woman delivering parcel

A woman delivering a parcel has been left with significant arm injuries after being attacked by two dogs.

The woman, in her 30s, was at a property in Malswick, near Newent, shortly before 15:00 BST on Saturday when she was attacked by the two cane corsos.

Along with her arm injuries, she was left with bite wounds to her body and was taken to Southmead Hospital, where she is awaiting further surgery and treatment.

The dogs were seized at the scene and a man arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control. He was released on police bail while an investigation continued, Gloucestershire Constabulary said.

The owner of the cane corsos was not at home when the dogs attacked the woman, who was able to get inside her vehicle while she waited for help to arrive.

Police said once officers had arrived, a police dog handler secured the dogs behind the gates. The owner was then contacted and both dogs seized.

The local area is understood to be popular with dog walkers and investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or from anyone who has any information relating to any previous incidents involving the dogs.

"Under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, it is an offence to have a dog dangerously out of control in any place, including all private property," Gloucestershire Constabulary said.
