Murder suspects bailed after body found in harbour
Mike FahertyThree men who who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail as police investigate the death of a man who went missing from a sailing boat.
The victim, believed to be Michael Mitchell, 35, from Chelmsford in Essex, is thought to have gone in the water at Arne Bay in Poole Harbour on Friday evening, but the incident was not reported until Sunday.
Dorset Police retrieved his body from the water on Tuesday and detectives have said the cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
A 46-year-old from Poole, a 31-year-old of no fixed address and a 22-year-old from Essex, who were all arrested on suspicion of murder have now been released on bail.
No formal identification has taken place but the family of Mitchell, known by them as "Mitch", have been updated.
The arrested men and the man who died are believed to be known to each other.
Det Ch Insp Nicky Jenkins said: "Our detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this death remain ongoing and we are continuing to keep Michael Mitchell's family fully updated.
"I would again appeal for anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please come forward, including anyone who had any contact with Mr Mitchell in the days leading up to Friday 29 May."
