Police say they are treating the death of a man found in the roof garden of a city centre block of flats as "suspicious".

Emergency services were called to Redcliff Street in Bristol at 08.19 BST on Tuesday after the body was found by a member of the public.

Avon and Somerset Police said the man has yet to be identified, and officers are going house-to-house in the area as the police presence in the area is increased.

The force said it is "urgently" trying to find out the man's identity so his next-of-kin can be informed.

A forensic investigation of the scene is underway, the force said, and officers are reviewing CCTV and other footage.

A post-mortem would be held to determine the cause of death, police added.

Anyone with any information that might help the investigation has been asked to contact police.
