The A1 northbound near Peterborough has been closed following an accident involving two lorries, with firefighters pictured putting out a blaze.

It has been shut from Junction 17 for the A605 to the A47 at Wansford, with one lane also closed past the scene in the southbound direction.

It happened at about 02:45 BST, said travel service Inrix.

Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade called it a "significant incident", with multiple fire service crews, ambulance personnel and police in attendance. It said motorists should avoid the area, seek alternative routes and expect significant delays.
