Team GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is to showcase a leisure centre in Surrey following a £1.2m refurbishment.

The Commonwealth gold medallist, who appears as Nitro in the BBC series Gladiators, will join residents at Woking Leisure Centre on 14 June to celebrate the centre's recent transformation.

Daniel Healy, contract manager at Everyone Active, said that the centre was "thrilled" to have the athlete attend the community day.

"As someone who lives and breathes fitness, he'll be putting our new state-of-the-art gym equipment through its paces and bringing his trademark energy and enthusiasm to the day," Healy said.

The leisure centre has been closed since 16 March to improve the studios and install new equipment.

Aikines-Aryeetey will be at the event from 10:00 BST to 14:00 to meet visitors, test out new equipment and take part in fitness challenges.

The television personality is also known for appearing as a participant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025.
