Nursery worker arrived at job six times drink-drive limit and drove into fence
Bellis MediaA nursery worker arrived at work almost six times the drink-drive limit, a court has heard.
Ilona Robinson, 35, from Rhyl, Denbighshire, gave a breath-alcohol reading of 200 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath at the roadside and 170 in custody. The limit is 35.
Siriol Jones, prosecuting, said Robinson was unsteady on her feet after driving into a car park at a nursery in Abergele, Conwy, in a Mini Cooper, on 30 March.
Police were called when she drove into a fence, breaking panels.
She pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
Llandudno Magistrates' Court was told Robinson refused to give the car keys to the nursery manager.
Jones said the defendant also fell asleep on a chair and slurred her words.
The court was also told Robinson had been drinking since the early hours of the morning on that day.
Judge Gwyn Jones imposed an 18-month community order and 220 hours of unpaid work, and told the defendant to attend rehabilitation activity days.
Robinson was also given a three-year driving ban and ordered to pay £199 costs.
Judge Jones told the defendant: "Fortunately for you, nobody was hurt."
