Children's sport scheme offers free half-term activities
Getty ImagesA free activity timetable will be running for children and young people this May half-term in Wolverhampton.
Special sessions, which start from Monday, include cricket, family fun gatherings and taster swim lessons.
Yo! Active, involving the council, WV Active - the name for council leisure centres - and Wolves Foundation, provides free activities for children up to 18. Care leavers and those with a disability can take part until the age of 25.
General manager of the football club charity, Tom Warren, said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for young people to try new activities, keep active, build confidence, and have fun – all while feeling supported and included at venues across our city."
The partnership was "an excellent way" to get children and young people moving more, "with a wide range of free opportunities... not only during half-term but all-year round", the council stated.
Cabinet member for health, wellbeing and community, Obaida Ahmed, said more than 19,500 children and young people had signed up to Yo! Active and she would "encourage young people, parents, and guardians to check out what is on offer".
