Fallen tree from cathedral grounds blocks road

A large tree has fallen across a street in Chelmsford city centre.

Foliage blocked the road at the corner of Waterloo Lane and New Street on Sunday morning.

Chelmsford City Council confirmed it had fallen from the grounds of the cathedral and said its parks team was working to get the road cleared "as soon as possible".

"If you're currently parked in Waterloo Lane, an alternative exit on to Victoria Road is available," the authority said.
