A woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm involving a chemical substance in Crawley

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man was injured in "an incident involving a chemical substance" in Crawley, police said.

Emergency services were called to an address in Fletcher Close, Southgate, on Sunday, at about 05:10 BST.

A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries, Sussex Police said.

They added the woman who was arrested, 40, has also been taken to hospital as a precaution.

A temporary road closure was in place in Fletcher Close while emergency services remained at the scene.

Police added there was no wider risk to the public.
