A spillage of dead pigs from a lorry has closed the lane of an A-road, police have said.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was called to the westbound carriageway of the A14 near Spaldwick to reports of a "lorry shedding a load of dead pigs from its trailer" at about 09:10 BST.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The pigs were being transported and believed to have died from natural causes before this incident occurred."

National Highways said the road is closed between Junction 19 at Junction 20 at Ellington. It said specialist crews are at the scene to clean the spillage.

Police said there had been no arrests and no persons had been injured.
