Crews called to blaze affecting several properties
GoogleFirefighters have been called to a fire "affecting several properties" in Derby.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 13:16 BST on Saturday to reports of a fire in a garden on Normanton Road. The service said on arrival the fire had already spread to three properties.
Derbyshire Police said nearby properties were being evacuated, and road closures were in place.
The force urged people to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the fire.
Police said the entrance to College Park, Normanton Road at the junction with Lara Croft Way, Normanton Road at the junction with Wilmot Street West, and, Normanton Road at the junction with Leopold Street were currently closed.
The fire service added crews from Long Eaton, Heanor, Kingsway, as well as Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Highfields and Stapleford stations were in attendance, alongside an aerial ladder platform.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "If you can see or smell smoke please keep all windows closed."
