A dog got itself in a bit of a squeeze after chasing a fox, with the pursuit ending in a call to the fire service.

Cookie the cavapoo, from Gosport, got his head stuck in a decorative garden breeze-block during the chase.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said on-call firefighters from Fareham attended the scene earlier this month and found the pooch in distress.

The fire service said crews chipped away at the block and made several careful cuts, allowing it to crumble away and freeing Cookie safely.

The six-year-old was soon back on all four paws, with the fire service saying he had "proved that he is one tough cookie".
