'When the sun is out everyone screams I need ice cream'

One person who is loving the heatwave is ice cream maker Mr Shuey because, as he explains, when the "sun's out everyone just screams, 'I need ice cream'."

"When I turn up everyone is smiling, everyone is happy," said Shuey, who has only been selling ice creams for four years after 21 years in hospitality.

Known as the Dessert Don on TikTok, he offers home deliveries across Liverpool and Wirral from his eye-catching van and has branched out from selling 99s with raspberry sauce to offer an exotic selection of ices along with hot desserts in winter.

He added: "It is like being a footie player, everyone is chanting and singing my name."

Mr Shuey, as he prefers to be known, keeps his whereabouts a mystery, only posting where his van will be moments before on social media.

The 41-year-old reveals he pivoted to ice cream for his family's sake.

"I only started this just to have a balance with the family lifestyle and to have more time with the family and it's just grown organically," he explained.

"It's taken me by surprise to be honest and I don't know what I was in for and every day is something new."

With a strong social media presence, home deliveries and an eye-catching van he has branched out from selling 99s with raspberry sauce to offer an exotic selection of ices along with hot desserts in the winter.

"It's an all year round job," he said. "It's amazing at the moment I have been so busy."

So what is his most popular flavour during the heatwave? The answer is blue sherbert or bubble gum flavour.
