Helicopter rescue after person falls from cliff
Lyme Regis CoastguardA person has been rescued by helicopter after falling from a cliff on to the beach below.
Rescue teams were called to help the casualty on Charmouth beach on Dorset's Jurassic Coast on Thursday afternoon.
Lyme Regis Coastguard said, due to the person's injuries and the difficult terrain, they were transported by helicopter from the beach to an ambulance in the car park before being taken to hospital.
It said parish council staff and Coastwatch volunteers managed the crowds of beachgoers and secured the landing site, allowing the coastguard helicopter Rescue 387 to safely land.
In a Facebook post, Lyme Regis Coastguard thanked the public and those involved in the rescue.
It said: "The cliffs along our coastline can be highly unstable and should not be climbed upon.
"Please stay well back from cliff edges and away from the base of cliffs when on the beach."
