Aircraft converter to relocate to freeport
BBCA firm which converts passenger aircraft into cargo planes is to relocate its headquarters to a freeport in north-east England.
Alfor Aviation is to build its new facility at Teesside Airport where, the company says, it will refit up to 24 aircraft each year
It claimed 250 jobs would be created at the site, with construction on warehouses, engineering offices and hangers to begin soon to meet a planned operation start date of the end of 2027.
Director Omer Mafa said the company "examined numerous locations across Europe for our long-term home" but "the deciding factor was Teesside Freeport".
Of the benefits to the company of freeport status, he said: "The combination of customs advantages, tax incentives, investment support and world-class connectivity creates an ecosystem unlike anywhere else in Europe."
Currently based in Bournemouth, Alfor Aviation was founded in 2023 by British firm Foravia and Turkish industrial group Alarko.
