Cow Lane in Didcot will be closed for several days between 09:30 and 15:30 BST

A town's key underpass has been closed to vehicles to allow for maintenance work.

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils said Cow Lane underpass in Didcot would be closed over the coming days between 09:30 and 15:30 BST for essential cleaning, maintenance and repairs.

The local authorities said, from Monday, the underpass would be open to pedestrians and cyclists only.

They added that, "due to unforeseen circumstances", the planned installation of The Cow Lane Connecting Communities Artwork would no longer happen at the same time as the work.

The maintenance and repair work, which includes removing vegetation, improving guttering and updating existing lighting, will be carried out by the Probation Service, Network Rail and Oxfordshire County Council.

The councils said updates on the artwork and other Didcot Garden Town projects would be available on their website.
