Sir Kevin Sinfield to lead new charity fun run

Former rugby league player Sir Kevin Sinfield has been announced as a host for a town's first ever charity fun run.

He will lead the new challenge, which covers a distance of 7km (4.3 miles) in Cranbrook on Saturday, with all profits raised going to Sinfield's 7-in7 Together charity, supporting his continued mission to champion those living with motor neurone disease (MND) and the families affected by it.

The event is taking place at Cranbrook Rugby Club in a first for the town in Kent, which previously hosted a fundraising event for the him.

It is open to people all of ages to participate, as well as community stalls based at the club for entertainment on the day.

Sinfield said: "This event is about bringing people of all ages together, celebrating everything that makes our community special, and supporting a cause that has touched hearts across the country.

"Cranbrook is a club close to my heart and the perfect location for our first ever fun run. It is an incredible honour and we're excited to be coming and running with everyone.

"It is not a race, it is a chance to meet the wider community, let the kids have fun and to continue banging the drum in our fight against MND."

Since his first challenge in 2020, Sinfield has raised more than £11m for MND causes, inspired by his former team mate Rob Burrow, who died in June 2024 after living with MND for four-and-a-half years.

His seventh and final challenge to raise money will see him run between Hull and Manchester, visiting all 12 English Super League grounds en route.

Starting on 27 September and finishing at the Super League Grand Final on 3 October, the 45-year-old will cover at least 45km (27.9 miles) each day.
