A man has died after a crash involving a car and a lorry parked in a layby.

Wiltshire Police said the collision happened at about 07:30 BST on Friday when a grey Tesla Model Y collided with the back of a Scania lorry parked in a layby on the northbound carriageway of the A419 between Swindon and Cricklade.

The force said the driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was declared dead at the scene and his next-of-kin had been informed.

The A419 remains closed northbound from the Turnpike junction while investigations continue.

Officers said there were no other reported injuries, and the force's thoughts were with the family of the man who died.

Any witnesses who saw the crash or anyone with relevant dashcam footage has been asked to contact police.
