Fire crews' gratitude as incident enters third day
BBCWest Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has thanked businesses near the scene of an ongoing blaze for their understanding as the incident enters its third day.
The blaze started at about 05:00 BST on Monday at waste management firm Jones Skips on Cross Street, Wolverhampton, with eight fire engines initially deployed.
Crews are expected to remain at the site for much of Wednesday.
WMFS said its continued presence was "important to help bring the incident to a safe conclusion and prevent further issues".
In a statement, it added: "We fully recognise the disruption that our equipment and activity may be causing for nearby businesses, and we're grateful for their continued support, patience and understanding."
The blaze was described as a "challenging incident in hot conditions", with crews continuing to deal with deep-seated pockets of fire.
