Weather-damaged Liver Bird removed for restoration
BBCOne of Liverpool's oldest Liver Birds has been removed from the Mersey Chambers building for restoration work.
The Victorian statue, believed to pre-date the two Liver Birds on the Royal Liver Building, is a feature on the building in Old Churchyard.
Known as the "Third Liver Bird" or the "Mother Bird" it overlooks the churchyard of nearby Liverpool Parish Church and the River Mersey.
Danny Keating from Acorn Insurance, which has owned the Grade II listed Mersey Chambers building since 2016, said the statue had been damaged by weather and would return once it had been restored "to its former glory".
