Dozens of female motorcyclists will take to the track at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire later to raise visibility and celebrate their hobby.

The #girlsrideout group, comprising 600 female riders from across the county, picked 40 members to perform parade laps during the lunchtime break at a track day event.

The event coincides with International Female Ride Day, a global initiative aimed at raising the profile of women riders.

Organiser Rochelle Hall, 58, said the event would "empower ladies", adding: "They're going to feel great after they've done it."

She said: "It's a huge challenge for a lot of people, they're quite nervous about going onto a track, and they've never been on such a busy day as well."

As well as raising visibility, the group will also be raising funds for Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

Hall, who lives in Saxilby and rides a Honda Fireblade, said she started the group seven years ago as a way for local riders to "connect, meet up and to ride out".

Respect from males

She started riding 38 years ago as a means of getting to work, but said she now heads out on her bike to forget about everyday stresses.

"You really have to wipe your brain and focus on the road," said Hall.

"It's a kind of therapy almost."

Despite initially being met with skepticism, Hall said the group has gained "a bit of respect" from male riders.

She said the group is especially welcoming of newly qualified riders.

Hall said: "We're all happy we have nothing to prove, so we're happy to do slow rides around with new ladies and try to help them and pass on a little of what we've learned over the years."
