Guernsey scoops two golds in Chelsea Flower Show
GrowGuernsey horticulturalist Raymond Evison said he was "very chuffed" to have won his 36th gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for his clematis display.
Evison, 82, who also won gold in 2025, said he had received "lots of congratulations" and that he was "delighted" by the outcome.
He said: "It's been a fantastic team effort from the team in Guernsey and the UK and the exhibit looks fantastic, too."
Also scooping gold was the Guernsey charity Grow, for their two large bug hotels, which featured as part of a display called Over the Garden Hedge, by the Cornwall-based group Burncoose Nurseries.
The charity helps adults with learning difficulties, and two of its members were sent to London to help Burncoose with the final build of the display.
"The name of the display speaks directly to the spirit of a collaboration streching across the water between Guernsey and Cornwall," said Marguerte Talmage, director of Grow.
"For Grow's crew, contributing handcrafted bug hotels for one of the world's most celebrated horticultural events is a powerful statement: that creativity, skill, and ambition flourish when given the right environment, regardless of background or ability."
