Plans have been submitted to expand a dog-walking facility by building a new paddock designed to give nervous dogs a safe space to exercise.

The proposal would see part of an agricultural field at Grange Farm in Wittering, near Peterborough, converted into a fenced dog-walking paddock, along with a small parking area for up to 10 cars.

This will be the third paddock at the farm and the applicant said the addition would allow the use of the fields to be rotated, helping to reduce disease.

The planning statement stated the site would operate on a booking system, with sessions available in 30-minute or one-hour slots, with each booking allowing up to 10 dogs per session.

The walking area will be enclosed by a 6ft (1.8m) fence where dogs can be exercised off the lead.

The plans said the enclosure was important for animals that were nervous or unable to be walked safely in public areas.

The facility would be open seven days a week during daylight hours, as no artificial lighting would be installed.

Peterborough City Council is yet to decide on the planning application.
