British pop favourites Five will perform alongside rock quintet The Feeling and chart-topping singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan at this year's Blackpool Illuminations switch-on concert.

The outdoor event will take place on the Tower Festival Headland, in the shadow of The Blackpool Tower, and will mark the start of the Illuminations season.

This year's event - on 4 September - will be officially partnered by BBC Radio Lancashire.

The station's breakfast presenter Graham Liver will be the host alongside daytime presenter Sharon Hartley and will also showcase some of the region's up-and-coming talent through BBC Introducing.

Formed in 1997, Five went on to sell more than 20 million records worldwide, charting in over 20 countries.

Their reunion Keep On Movin' tour was the first time all five band members had shared the stage together in over 25 years.

After initially going on sale with 12 shows, the tour eventually spanned 25 arenas across the UK and Ireland.

They will come to Blackpool on the back of a summer of high-profile performances, including recent appearances at Download and the Isle of Wight festivals.

Kate Shane, managing director of Blackpool Tourism Ltd, said: "I'm super excited, great talented people there to entertain the masses on the promenade.

"It's a great event and it marks the start of the second season for Blackpool."

A total of 20,000 tickets will be available through a public ballot, which opens on at 12:000 BST on 30 June and closes at 17:00 on 6 August.
