Arrest as man seriously hurt and PC assaulted in disturbance

A man has been seriously hurt in a disturbance and a police officer has been assaulted, police have said.

Officers were called to an incident on Berwyn Avenue in Blackley, at about 02:45 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.

The police officer was not seriously injured, but the man was taken to hospital for treatment, the force added.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of wounding and assaulting a police officer and remains in custody.
