A police officer accused of falsely claiming he was speeding on duty while responding to emergency incidents is to appear in court.

PC Stuart Laws, 40, who is based in Winnall, has received a postal requisition in relation to two counts of committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of justice, Hampshire Constabulary said.

It relates to two separate incidents that took place last August on the M27, and in December in Southampton.

He is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and is currently suspended from duty.
