World Fireworks Championship line-up unveiled

The line-up for the 2026 World Fireworks Championships has been revealed.

Thousands of visitors are expected to watch the dazzling displays in Blackpool which take place over three nights - starting on Saturday.

All competitors in this year's championships are former winners, with 2022 champions Wales opening this year's event.

South Africa will be putting on their pyrotechnic display on 26 September with Germany putting on their show on 10 October.

The build-up starts from 19:45 BST on Saturday with Celtic Fireworks set to start at 20:15.

Fireworks for Africa who were crowned the 2017 winners will take to the skies at about 19:45 with the build-up starting from 19:15.

Haupt Feuerwerke who lifted the championships in 2021 will be returning to the resort on 10 October.

The build-up will kick off from 19:00 with their display set to start at 19:30.

All displays are subject to suitable weather conditions.

India won last year's championship.

Amir Morani Fireworks became the first team to qualify for the Champion of Champions final taking place in 2028.

Blackpool Council leader councillor Lynn Williams said the championships offer the "perfect opportunity to experience two of Blackpool's greatest attractions in one visit" with the Illuminations "providing a backdrop to these fantastic displays".

TV comedian Paddy McGuinness turned on the lights display in front of 25,000 people on Friday.

The illuminations will shine until 3 January.
