Warning as brazier deemed likely cause of shed fire
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue ServiceA fire service has issued a warning after an investigation found a garden brazier was the likely cause of a fire that spread to sheds and fences.
Four fire crews were sent to Inby Close in North Wingfield, Derbyshire, at 15:40 BST on Tuesday.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze spread to a nearby shed and property, as well as neighbouring sheds and fences. No one was injured.
Station Manager Barclay Masterson said the brazier had been placed too close to the shed and windy conditions caused the fire to quickly spread, affecting nearby structures.
Masterson added: "Fire can spread rapidly and dangerously. This is why we advise people to make sure that any garden fires, barbecues, fire pits and braziers are positioned well away from buildings, sheds, fences, and overhanging trees or shrubs.
"They should always be sited responsibly and never left unattended.
"For any garden fire or barbecue, we strongly recommend keeping a hosepipe or bucket of water nearby."
However, he urged people to call the emergency services if a fire gets out of control.
