New community sports pavilion construction finished

Keys to a new community sports and wellbeing pavilion have been formally handed to a after builders finished its construction.

The project which started in August 2025 was led by Truro City Council and forms part of a wider £5.2 million initiative to improve the facilities at Boscawen Park.

Work has now started fitting out the interior of the pavilion so it is ready for use by the local community.

Mayor of Truro Chris Wells said the finishing line was "now within sight" for the "exciting project".

The new building includes a multi-purpose sports hall on the ground floor and two activity spaces on the first floor.

Other work on the site includes resurfacing walkways, installing fences and reseeding playing fields.

Activities on offer will include badminton, pickleball, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and indoor tennis.

The pavilion will also host a programme of fitness classes, wellbeing sessions, workshops and community-led activities.

Wells said: "I am looking forward to the opening ceremony and seeing the long-awaited new facilities being used by local sports and community groups."

A formal opening ceremony for the new pavilion is due to take place later in the year.
