Homes evacuated during security alert

Police are currently at the scene of the security alert in Victor Place

A number of homes have been evacuated in east Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious device.

Police and Army Technical Officers (ATO) are currently at the scene of the security alert in the Victor Place area of the city.

Cordons are in place at the junction of Woodstock Place and Swift Place/Street.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) are advising the public to avoid the area.

Community centres in east Belfast have been opened to people who have had to leave their homes.
