Man in critical condition after city centre attack

A man is in critical condition after an assault in Leicester city centre.

Officers went to Silver Street at 01:40 GMT following a call form paramedics who were treating an injured man.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition.

A 33-year-old man, from Leicestershire, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.
