Three men have died in two separate road crashes in County Donegal.

Two occupants in one vehicle, a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s, died at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on the N15 in Birchhill on Saturday afternoon.

Later on Saturday, a man in his 20s was involved in a serious one-vehicle crash on the R238 at Ardmore, Muff.

The man, who was the driver and only occupant of the car, was taken to Altnagelven Hospital, County Londonderry, where he later died.

Birchhill crash

The two-vehicle collision in Birchhill, an area between Donegal town and Ballybofey, happened shortly after 14:00 local time.

Four others were hurt in the crash, but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

An Garda Síochána (Irish police) are carrying out an examination of the scene and the road has been closed.

Those injured include a man and a woman in their 20s and a man and a woman in their 40s. They are all being treated in Letterkenny University Hospital.

Muff crash

The crash in Muff happened at about 21:45 local time.

The road remains closed and the scene will be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information regarding either crash to contact them.
