A man who threatened to kill a woman's children and pets has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to stalking and intentional suffocation.

Kyle Chisholm, of Foxglove Drive in Hilperton in Wiltshire, was described as "controlling, dangerous and wholly unacceptable" by police.

The 27-year-old was sentenced on 9 April at Swindon Crown Court, to four years and two months behind bars.

The court heard Chisholm stalked the woman, who was known to him, between December 2023 and November 2025 and, on at least two occasions, caused her to fear that violence would be used against her.

His victim said Chisholm's behaviour "consumes my thoughts and it destroys my energy and capacity to want to do anything productive or leave the house."

He also sent messages which included threads to kill or harm the woman, her pets and her children.

The court heard Chisholm went to her home, disconnected her doorbell camera and damaged the tyres on her car.

On one occasion, he held a pillow over the woman's face and made threats to take her life.

In a statement read to the court to describe the impact of Chisholm's actions, his victim said: "I have avoided texts from my loved ones, as I don't like my phone anymore, I hate my phone going off, every time it's a reminder of what I had to put up with.

"I spend a big portion of my day thinking about what is going through his mind, for example if he is thinking about me or how obsessed is with the thought of hurting me again."

Chisholm was also given an indefinite restraining order as well as his jail sentence.

Local Crime Investigator Ben Hillier said: "This was a deeply distressing case involving persistent stalking and a serious assault, which left the victim fearing for her safety. The offender's behaviour was controlling, dangerous and wholly unacceptable.

"I welcome the court's sentence, which reflects the seriousness of these offences and the significant harm caused. I would also like to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation."
