Vintage fun fair to return for Liberation Day
BBCA vintage fair which includes a carousel featured in the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will return for Guernsey's Liberation Day.
The carousel called Pride of the South is part of the Downs Steam Vintage Fair and dates back to 1893 - it made its first appearance on Guernsey last year.
The government said the Downs Steam Vintage Fair would also feature a ferris wheel for the very first time as well as the return of the quiet hour to help families of children with sensory needs.
Deputy Andy Cameron, Liberation Day lead for education, sport and culture said the fair was a "highlight" of the 2025 programme and its return would help make the event "more accessible".
The government said the traditional vintage fair would be on Albert Pier from 11:00 BST until late to celebrate the islands 81st Liberation Day on 9 May.
The Downs Steam Vintage Fair is a family-run fair and was established in 1935, but their involvement with fairgrounds dates back to 1850.
