A man has been seriously injured after a VW campervan collided with a tent following a fantasy festival at a stately home.

Hertfordshire Police said the man, in his 40s, was taken to hospital following the incident at Hatfield Park at 07:50 BST on Monday.

Sgt Tim Davies said: "This collision occurred at a time when a number of people were on site following an event at the venue the previous day.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist our inquiries."

Hatfield Park had just hosted Fantasy Forest Libertalia over the weekend, featuring live music, jousting and a costume show.

The estate has been contacted for a statement. The festival organisers declined to comment.
