Two badly hurt in collision involving police car

Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash involving a police car.

Northamptonshire Police said it had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the incident in Yardley Hastings at about 16:50 BST on Sunday.

The crash happened on the A428 at the junction with Northampton Road.

It involved a black police Volvo XC90 and a blue Audi SQ5. The driver and the passenger in the Audi were taken to hospital.

The force is appealing for anyone with information about the collision to get in touch.
