Three arrested in city roads safety operation
TVP Roads Policing UnitA motorist and two young people on a stolen moped have been arrested in Oxford as part of a national roads safety operation.
Thames Valley Police's (TVP) roads policing unit said it received reports of "two youths on a moped who had just stolen another motorcycle" in Summertown on Saturday.
The car driver had been stopped for using a mobile phone in Cowley and was arrested for possession with intent to supply cocaine after "attempting to ditch drugs", it said. The disqualified driver was due to appear in court on Sunday.
The unit said the "freshly stolen motorcycle" was returned to the owner and the two youths remain in custody for numerous offences.
TVP Roads PolicingThe TVP team was working alongside Cowley Neighbourhood Policing Team, Special Constabulary and the Motor Insurers' Bureau.
It said a total of 20 illegal e-scooters, e-bikes and electric motorbikes were seized, 20 tickets issued for no insurance and two cars were seized for no tax or licence.
It said the "majority of these seizures were fast food delivery riders".
